US President he’s willing to work with Kiev and Moscow and “all other parties involved” to “help them restore peace along the border.”
The statement followed a telephone call with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Saturday. It was the first direct contact between the two leaders since Donald Trump entered office. Fighting in the Donbass Region spiked earlier this week, with Ukrainian troops shelling local rebel troops and bringing up heavy weapons to the front line, violating Minsk agreements. Kiev, however, has routinely pinned blame for the surge in fighting on rebels and Moscow.
