Magnitude 5.6 quake hits South of Taiwan’s Tainan
A 5.6-magnitude earthquake has occurred 19 kilometers (about 12 miles) south of the city of Tainan on Taiwan’s southwestern coast, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reports.
The earthquake hit at 17:12 GMT on Friday (01:12 local time on Saturday) at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6 miles), USGS said.

Two aftershocks were detected southwest of Tainan in the early hours of Saturday, local time, according to Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau.

No immediate information on casualties or damages was available.
