Markov noted that the meeting in Baku was proposed by the Russian side, as Russia always advances its allies.
During the meeting, the sides will discuss cooperation against the ‘Islamic State’ terrorist group (IS), exchange data and mull the further prospects of military cooperation, according to him.
"We will probably soon witness joint missions of the US and Russian air forces against IS," Markovsaid.
Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford and Chief of the General Staff of Russia’s Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov are meeting in Baku on Feb. 16.
