Coal mine explosion kills at least 8 in West Ukraine
An explosion took place at a mine in Ukraine's west. At least eight people died.
At least 11 people have died as a result of an explosion at the Stepnaya mine in Ukraine's Lviv Region, Independent Trade Union of Coal Miners of Ukraine (NPGU) head Mihaylo Volinets said Thursday.

"There has been an accident at the Stepnaya mine, belonging to the Lvivugol company. A methane explosion took place. A total of 11 people dead," Volinets said on his Facebook page.

A total of 34 people were inside the mine at the time of the explosion, according to the trade union leader.
