According to the police Twitter account, an SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) drove slowly in the lane reserved for the race and the riders could not stop anymore and rode at full speed into the vehicle. Three riders and one marshal have been injured.
The reason for the crash is not yet known, although police so far believe it was an accident.

Several people were injured on today, some severely, when a car drove into the bike lane at a bicycle race in Berlin, Wannsee, Times of Malta reported.
