Final statement adopted at meeting of GUAM countries’ government heads
The heads of governments of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova) adopted a final statement following the summit in Kiev March 27, reads a message posted on the Ukrainian government’s website, AzVision.az reported.
The statement emphasizes that conflicts in the GUAM area obstruct the sustainable development of member countries.

The GUAM transport corridor, a competitive transit route linking Europe with Asia, will continue to be developed by member countries. Both public and private enterprises will be urged to make more efficient use of it, says the statement.

The document also says that businessmen will be encouraged to benefit from the free trade zone available in the GUAM area, which will gradually eliminate the obstacle to economic and trade relations and create fertile conditions for deepened cooperation in these areas.

Member countries declared their willingness to strengthen the cooperation with international partners in carrying out regional projects and multilateral cooperation programs. They agreed to cooperate in all areas in order to ensure social-economic development, well-being, and reliability needed for security and stability in the GUAM area.
