He was commenting on the Armenian media reports about holding a photo exhibition on Nagorno-Karabakh in the Czech town of Frydek-Mistek.
“It is not clear from the exhibition’s photos, spread by the Armenian media, where it is held, whether in a private home or in a public place, there are no visitors, no audience,” the diplomat said.
“Most likely it is another failed PR campaign, organized by the separatist regime of Nagorno-Karabakh, aimed at presenting false information to the Czech public,” he added.
Shafiyev said the embassy is currently clarifying this issue with the authorities of the city.
Earlier, the Armenian media reported about an exhibition, in the Czech town of Frydek-Mistek in the Moravian-Silesian region, dedicated to Nagorno-Karabakh.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
