“The EU- funded project was implemented by the CoE within the framework of cooperation with the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), established in 2014. CEPEJ methodologies were applied during the implementation. The purpose was to provide democratic reforms of judiciary in Azerbaijan in line with CoE standards, and increase the efficiency. Numerous trainings were held within the framework of the project and satisfaction surveys were conducted for users, lawyers and court employees. Five pilot courts of Azerbaijan were actively involved in the project,” said Filipovic.
Mrs. Hanne Junker, Head of the CoE Department of Justice, said that the project aims to help the government in increasing the efficiency of judicial system. She noted that she has worked on the project along with the Justice Academy and held trainings for judges.
Elchin Gasimov, department head at the Ministry of Justice, said that the project is vitally important for Azerbaijan.
“Several trainers have been prepared and they’re already working. It is important to discuss the results of the project. The project is going to lead to the expansion of our cooperation and the implementation of projects in new areas,” he added.
