Syria chemical attack 'fabricated' - Assad
Syria's President Bashar-al Assad says reports of a chemical attack by his forces were "100% fabrication".
In an exclusive video interview with Agence France-Presse, he said his government had handed over all its chemical weapons stockpiles in 2013.

However, the US, the World Health Organization (WHO) and chemical weapons inspectors have all cast doubt on the government's claims.

The alleged chemical attack on 4 April killed more than 80 people.

Russia, a key ally of Syria, angered the West on Wednesday by vetoing a UN draft resolution over the attack on the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun, in the eastern province of Idlib.

The resolution would have required Mr Assad's government to co-operate with an investigation into the attack.

"There was no order to make any attack," Mr Assad told the AFP. "We gave up our arsenal a few years ago. Even if we have them, we wouldn't use them."

He also said he would only allow what he called an "impartial" investigation into the attack, to ensure it would not be used for "politicised purposes".
