BSEC committee meeting underway in Baku
The 48th meeting of the Committee on Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) is underway in Baku.
In the first place, the committee will elect its deputy chairperson. Then, a draft report on parliamentary role in sustainable healthcare provision will be heard, AzVision.az reported.

The meeting will be opened by Ziyafat Asgarov, first deputy speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

“The world has never felt such need for cooperation before. It also refers to the BSEC region,” he said.

He noted that over the past years, Azerbaijan has achieved economic progress, increased its economic potential and ensured the development of the healthcare system.

“As one of the important directions of the long-term development strategy carried out by Azerbaijan’s president, immense healthcare reforms are being implemented and investments are being made. More than 500 medical centers have been constructed or repaired. Mortalities among mothers and babies have decreased sharply. In this regard, familiarity with the experience of developed countries and international cooperation are of great importance. The fact that the human factor is a top priority in the policy of the head of state is proved by the reforms in the healthcare field,” added the vice-speaker.

Later on, BSEC Parliamentary Assembly Secretary-General Asaf Hajiyev made a speech and wished the committee success.
