Russia intends to strengthen relations with post-Soviet countries
Prof. Evgeny P. Bazhanov, rector of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy, has delivered a speech at ADA University on the subject “Trends in international relations: lessons in history and prospects.”
According to the professor, in the 20th century ideological differences were prevalent in international relations, whereas in the 21st century differences of civilization have replaced them, APA reported.

He noted that in the near future states will remain as the central actors in international relations.

Bazhanov said that among the main actors in international relations are China’s growing power and neighboring countries being concerned by it, as well as Russia’s retrieval of its positions. The diplomat stressed that the US policy is unacceptable to Russia, noting that his country gives priority to multi-polar, independent police which does not adhere to any ideology.

“In the first place, we intend to strengthen our relations with friendly countries, particularly post-Soviet countries including Azerbaijan,” he said.

Bazhanov added that Moscow seeks better relations with China, Israel, Middle East and Latin American countries, as well as Muslim countries. Nevertheless, the diplomat held that his country is in favor of normalizing relations with western countries as well.

Later on, the diplomat answered questions from professors and students.
