Official opening ceremony of 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue starts in Baku
Official opening ceremony of the 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue started in Baku on May 5.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva are attending the 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue being held in Baku, AzVision.az reports.

President Ilham Aliyev, Director-General of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Irina Bokova, UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, Chief of Staff of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization Mario Lubetkin, Secretary-General, World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, Director General of ISESCO Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni will make speeches and Director General of FAO José Graziano da Silva’s address will be delivered at the ceremony.

The forum on the theme “Advancing Intercultural Dialogue – New avenues for human security, peace and sustainable development” is organized in cooperation with UNESCO, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the UN World Tourism Organization (WTO), the Council of Europe, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the North-South Center of the Council of Europe. The Second Academic Forum of UNESCO Chairs working in the field of intercultural and interreligious dialogue will be convened and the third meeting of the International Network for the UNESCO Silk Road Online Platform will be held within the forum today.

Discussions will be conducted today in the plenary session on “promoting dialogue and building bridges as a tool to preventing violent extremism” and high level meeting of international organizations will be held.

About 40 sessions and events will be held within the forum.
