 Press Conference

The final press conference of the 4th Azerbaijan Islamic Solidarity Games Operations Committee (AISGOC) was held in Baku today. Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, Azad Rahimov, the Secretary General of ISSF Faisal Abdul Aziz Al-Nasser, the Vice President of NOC Azerbaijan Chingiz Huseynzade and the representative of the Operations Committee Konul Nurullaeva attended the press conference, AzVision.az reports.
Azad Rahimov, opening the press conference, stressed that Baku is ready for the Islamic Solidarity Games."Few hours left until the Islamic Solidarity Games, tomorrow Baku will host a very big and important event. The whole world will closely watch the events.

The games will be broadcast in more than 30 countries with a total audience of 1.3 billion viewers.Athletes of more than 50 countries will compete during the 11 days. Unfortunately, a few countries such as Sudan, Livia and Kuwait will not participate at the events", he said.

Speaking at the press conference, Faisal Abdul Aziz Al-Nasser,the Secretary General of ISSF expressed his confidence that Azerbaijan will host a beautiful sport event during the next 11 days.

"More than 3000 athletes will participate at the games.Azerbaijan has done everything possible to organize the tournament at the highest level and achieved its goal.The republic has made its significant contribution to the solidarity of all Islamic countries. For this memorable occasion, I express my thanks to the First Vice President of Azerbaijan and the head of the Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva. I want to thank President Ilham Aliyev", he added.

The Vice President of NOC Azerbaijan, Chingiz Huseynzade in his turn,expressed his assurance that the organisation will be successful:

"For the first time Azerbaijan will perform with such a large delegation: the national team includes about 500 people. We believe that the Games will be held at a high level and that our performance will be successful."

"Our athletes will learn more from the Legioner athletes who will compete in the events. It is difficult to predict the number or the medals could be won. The presidents of about 30 Islamic countries will participate at the events," Chingiz Huseynzade added.

Konul Nurullayeva, the director of Games Family Services AISOC stressed, "the representatives of 46 countries have already been accommodated in the Athletes Village.

The remaining eight teams will arrive in upcoming days. We have organised a variety of entertaining activities for the athletes."
