Azerbaijani ambassador briefs Russian MFA on Armenian provocation during ‘Immortal regiment’ march
Azerbaijan Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu on Thursday met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin.
The meeting took place at the Azerbaijani ambassador’s request, the Russian Foreign Ministry told reporters.

During the meeting the sides discussed priority issues of cooperation between the two countries.

Polad Bulbuloglu brought to Karasin’s attention the provocation committed by the Armenian diaspora during the “Immortal Regiment” march in Moscow and Saint Petersburg on 9 May – Victory Day, APA’s Moscow correspondent reported.

The ambassador asked for necessary measures to be taken to make sure no such incidents happen in the future.

Karasin said he will consider the issue.

During Immortal Regiment marches in Moscow and St. Petersburg on May 9, representatives of Armenian diaspora carried the flag of the separatist regime and shouted “Artsakh”. Near the Belarusskaya subway station, a brawl erupted between Armenians and young activists of the Azerbaijani diaspora. The Azerbaijanis demanded Armenians stop carrying the flag of the separatist regime. At this time, Armenians attacked Azerbaijanis, as a result of which some of the Azerbaijanis got injured. Then police came and interfered in the incident.

Ten Azerbaijanis who had been taken into police custody following the incident were all released.
