But covert protection might now prove a difficult task for Choi Young-jae, thanks to his new legion of swooning online fans.
The 36-year-old, who is a bodyguard for South Korean president Moon Jae-in, has captured the internet's heart with his chiseled jaw-line and steely eyes.
Yulin Kuang tweeted: 'He looks like the square-jawed serious romantic lead, who's going to be his plucky heroine who accidentally captures his heart.'
Erika Heidewald said: 'Fangirling over the new Korean president's bodyguard is peak Twitter and I am so here for it.'
Another user advised tweeters to, 'Get a man who looks at you the way the new South Korean president's bodyguard looks at a man moving sort of suspiciously just out of frame.'
Young-jae is also an officer in South Korea's Special Warfare Command, an elite unit on the front-line of defending the country from its neighbour North Korea.
Sadly however the president's office reported that Young-jae 'is "unfortunately" married and has two daughters.'
President Moon defeated rivals Hong Jun-pyo and Awn Cheol-soo to be elected president of South Korea.
The election comes just months after the impeachment of Park Geun-hye, the country's first female president.
The Korea Times suggested that President Moon may be deliberately hiring 'good-looking professionals' in order to create an attractive public face for the new administration.
