1,6 million people employed in Azerbaijan since 2004 - Minister
Since Azerbaijan joined the European Social Charter in 2004, 1,6 million people were employed in the country, said Azerbaijan's Minister of Labor and Social Protection Salim Muslimov.
The minister made the remarks on Friday at a national parliamentary seminar “Strengthening of the socio-economic rights in Azerbaijan through the prism of the European Social Charter” jointly organized by PACE’s Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development and the Department of the European Social Charter of Council of Europe, APA reported.

He said that unemployment decreased to 5% in the country. “As the president says, the social sphere is a priority field in the country and Azerbaijani citizens stand in its center. In recent years, a strong social protection system has been formed, and reforms have been carried out in Azerbaijan. The country meets international standards and requirements in this field. The labor and social rights of citizens have been reflected in Azerbaijan’s Constitution. The Azerbaijani president signed 81 decrees and orders in the past 13 years. Monthly, 2,330,000 are paid over 316 million manats in the field of social protection”, said the minister.
