“Fight against corruption among priorities of Azerbaijan’s state policy”
The fight against corruption is among the priorities of Azerbaijan’s state policy, the head of the country’s Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutor General, Kamran Aliyev, said on Tuesday.
He made the remarks at the 3rd meeting of heads of anti-corruption organizations and ombudsmen of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states in Baku.

Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan has joined international anti-corruption conventions since 2004 and improved its legislation.

“There is a three-stage judicial system in Azerbaijan. The Judicial-Legal Council is an important body in this field. As for transparency in management, law-enforcement authorities recruit employees through testing. Besides, e-government and ASAN Service are to be mentioned in this regard”, he added.

“There are two anti-corruption agencies in Azerbaijan, including the Commission on Combating Corruption and the Anti-Corruption Department under Prosecutor General”, said Aliyev.

He noted that the Anti-Corruption Department closely cooperates with NGOs and international organizations in this sphere.
