PACE co-rapporteur received at Ombudsman’s Office
Cezar Florin Preda, co-rapporteur of the PACE Monitoring Committee on Azerbaijan, was received at the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The meeting was also attended by Joël Mermet, Head of the CoE Baku Office, the Ombudsman’s Office told AzVision.az.

Head of the Ombudsman’s Office Aydin Safikhanli spoke to the guests about their activities, protection, promotion, and provision of human rights.

Rashid Rumzade, department head at the Ombudsman’s Office, made a speech concerning visits paid to penitentiary facilities and places which detainees are not allowed to leave, recommendations given on the basis of national and international standards and the situation of their execution, persons received and works done to effectively fulfill their requests, and efficient cooperative relations available.

Other questions of interests to the guests were thoroughly answered as well.

Also during the meeting, the sides discussed prospects of future cooperation with the Council of Europe.
