Statement by OSCE MG Co-Chairs is anodyne condemnation of violence -Matthew Bryza
Matthew Bryza, former US ambassador to Azerbaijan and former co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group spoke to AzVision.az. Commenting on the Armenian provocation in Alkhanli village of Fuzuli region on July 4, Bryza condemned the statement by the OSCE Minsk Group’s Co-Chairs on the issue.
Unfortunately, the statement by the OSCE Minsk Group’s Co-Chairs sheds no light on the situation and sounds like the typical, anodyne condemnation of violence that could apply to any conflict anywhere in the world under international mediation, he said.

In his opinion, it is a mistake for mediators of any international conflict to claim reflexively that there is no military solution to a military-political dispute:

“By definite, military factors play a key role in shaping the political factors that must ultimately be agreed to resolve such a conflict and should always be taken into account by mediators. In diplomacy, military force and political dialogue are often inextricably linked. As the great Prussian strategist von Clausewitz taught the world, war is the continuation of politics by other means.”

On July 4, around 20:40, Armenian Armed Forces shelled the Alkhanly village of Fizuli region with 82mm- and 120-mm-caliber mortars, including heavy grenade launchers.
As a result of the provocation, the residents of the village Allahverdiyeva Sahibe Idris gizi (1966) and Guliyeva Zakhra Elnur gizi (2016) died. Guliyeva Sarvinaz Iltifat gizi (1965) was wounded.
