Mendez stressed that the continuation of the Armenian occupation of the Azerbaijan’s territories is the main cause of suffering of hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis who have been displaced from their native lands and deprived of all their things due to this occupation.
In his letter, Mendez noted that the continued occupation of Azerbaijan’s territories by Armenia is the main cause of the ongoing suffering of hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis who were expelled from their homes and deprived of everything they had.
He said that as long as this occupation and injustice continue, more people will suffer and become the victims of this tragic conflict.
Mendez reminded the Armenian president that the killing of innocent people is contrary not only to international law, but also to the basic principles of Christianity. The Bishop said he hopes that Armenia and its leadership, who say are proud to be Christian, will comprehend the responsibility of abiding by the principles of Christianity.
On behalf of the Los Angeles Interfaith Council and on his own behalf, Mendez called on Armenian President Sargsyan to condemn this crime and to bring to justice the perpetuators of this crime.
