Emmys 2017 nomination list in full: ‘Westworld’ and ‘The Crown’ lead nominees as ‘The Leftovers’ shunned
This year’s Emmy nominations have been announced, with Westworld (pictured), The Crown, and Atlanta all receiving multiple nods, AzVision.az reports citing the Independent.
Anna Chlumsky (Veep) and Shemar Moore (S.W.A.T.) presented the announcement live from Hollywood ahead of the annual ceremony, hosted this year by talk show host Stephen Colbert on 17 September.

The Emmy nominations are a result of TV shows putting forward various scripts and actors for accolades. Last year saw anthology series American Crime Story: The People v OJ Simpson crowned the evening’s big winner with Game of Thrones taking home three trophies becoming the most successful drama in the history of the ceremony.

With George RR Martin’s fantasy drama unable to compete this year, though, there’s room for a new name to sweep the board. HBO’s Westworld has seemingly taken Game of Thrones’ place, being nominated for numerous awards, including Best Drama, Lead Actor, Actress, Supporting Actress and Supporting Actor.

Netflix’s The Crown also has multiple nominations, including Claire Foy, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress. She faces stiff competition from award darlings Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Robin Wright (House of Cards), and Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder).

Many people expected The Leftovers to be nominated, having been heralded by various critics as one of the best shows in recent memory, but the HBO drama failed to pick up a nomination.

Veep leads the way with five nominations, closely followed by Saturday Night Live with four (although, three of them are in the Supporting Actress category). Other successful comedies include Master of None, Atlanta, and Black-ish.
