Azerbaijani President warns officials, businessmen against cutting down trees
"I repeatedly warned all state officials and private structures against not cutting down trees unless the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources gives an opinionand if the trees should be removed for some project of national importance, then they must be transferred and new trees should be planted. Therefore, after I found out about this, I immediately gave an order and sent the head of the city executive power. As a result, such a wonderful public place was created,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during a meeting with residents of the building meant for the teaching staff of Baku State University, AzVision.az reported.

"Of course, if large multi-storey buildings were built here, this would create problems for people living in the neighborhood. Therefore, a new park has been created on this territory of our city, and I think this is a very significant event. Once again I want to say that this park has a special history, and it will be a lesson for all structures, companies, and businessmen that if you cut down a tree, you won’t be able to get away with a fine only,” he said.
