Israeli officials delayed Lapshin’s extradition - Ali Hasanov
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to pardon Israeli citizen Alexander Lapshin, according to which he has been released from serving the remaining part of the sentence, and, probably, he will be extradited to Israel in the near future, said Ali Hasanov, Azerbaijani president’s aide for public and political affairs.
However, unfortunately, Israeli officials delayed the procedure related to extradition, Hasanov added.

As a result, an unpleasant incident occurred Sept. 10, when Lapshin attempted suicide in prison, Hasanov noted.

The suicide attempt was prevented, Lapshin was promptly provided with medical care and currently continues treatment under doctor’s supervision, Hasanov said.

He noted that after the signing of the pardon order by the Azerbaijani president, the country’s Foreign Ministry and the Israeli Embassy in Baku are dealing with the issue of Lapshin’s extradition, and probably this process will soon be completed.
