Romanian deputy PM says she's a suspect in criminal probe
Romanian Deputy Prime Minister Sevil Shhaideh said on Friday she was a suspect in a criminal investigation after meeting with anti-corruption prosecutors, but declined to give more details.
Shhaideh, who also runs the regional development ministry, is a close ally of ruling Social Democrat Party head Liviu Dragnea, who has a conviction for vote rigging and is on trial in a separate abuse of office case.

“I was called here and I was informed ... I am a suspect. I cannot tell more because the investigation is ongoing,” Shhaideh told reporters. “I will make use of all my rights so as to be able to analyze the documents with my lawyer.”

Prosecutors said they would make a statement later on Friday.
