"Explosion at Khizi weapons storage polluted area much, cleaning operation will take a long time"
“As a result of the explosion at the weapons storage of the “N” military unit of the Defense Ministry in Khizi, the ammunition shrapnel was spread even to areas near the coastline,” ANAMA operation manager Samir Poladov said on Tuesday in the event named “Presentation of JCP Phase III, The Future of ANAMA-NATO Trust Fund projects in Azerbaijan”, AzVision.az reports citing APA.
Poladov said that the spread rate of the ammunition and shrapnel in the area in Khizi where the explosion occurred is very serious. “As soon as the incident took place, we immediately mobilized our forces to Khizi. At present, we are cleaning up the military ammunition in a diameter of 20 km. Despite this, the territory is so polluted that cleaning operation will take a long time,” he said.

An explosion occurred at a weapons storage of the “N” military unit of the Defense Ministry in Khizi on August 27.
