Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev then received new U.S. Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Andrew Schofer. Wishing success to Andrew Schofer in his activities, the head of state said that the former U.S. co-chairs spared no efforts together with the other co-chairs for settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Regretting over failure in finding solution to the conflict, the president said that it is because Armenia maintains the status quo unchanged, doesn’t withdraw its troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories and ignores the relevant UN Security Council resolutions. Referring to resumption of the negotiation process, President Ilham Aliyev said that constructive works are underway to find a fair solution based on the norms of the international law and Azerbaijan is interested in the soonest settlement of the conflict.
Andrew Schofer stressed that as President Ilham Aliyev noted, the status quo is unacceptable and they will spare no efforts in the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict based on the norms of international law.
