40 unexploded shells found in Azerbaijan’s Sumgayit
The Azerbaijani National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) received information from the Crisis Management Center of the Emergency Situations Ministry that 3 unexploded shells were found in the settlement named after Z.Tagiyev in the city of Sumgayit.
ANAMA immediately sent its mobile operative group to the scene, the Agency told APA.

ANAMA specialists inspected the territory near the Azersun oil plant, where Azersy OJSC is carrying out excavation work. As a result of the inspection, 49 units of unexploded military ordnance (8 artillery shells of 125-mm caliber, 17 artillery shells 122-mm caliber, 4 artillery shells of 100-mm caliber, 2 artillery shells of 85 mm-caliber, 2 artillery shells of 115-mm caliber, 4 artillery shells of 76-mm caliber, 3 mortar shells of 82-mm caliber, 7 missiles, a warhead and a grenade) were discovered and transported to the ANAMA central depot for neutralization.

ANAMA specialists also carried out an inspection in 2,000 square meters of area around the site where the unexploded shells were found. No other dangerous items or devices were detected.
