Dozens of servicemen reported dead near army base in Afghanistan car bomb attack
At least 40 servicemen were killed in an attack targeting a military base in Afghanistan’s Kandahar, local media reported on Thursday.
According to the Tolo News television channel citing sources, the attacks was perpetrated by suicide attackers with Humvees.

The television station 1TV reported that the Afghan Ministry of Defense has confirmed the attack on the military base in Kandahar province.

Earlier, the Taliban attacked a checkpoint in the northern Afghan province of Baglan, killing two police officers.

In late August, a suicide attacker detonated an explosive device near a military vehicle in Helmand's Nawa-I-Barakzayi district; 13 people were killed.

For decades, Afghanistan has experienced instability, as different terrorist organizations such as Daesh (ISIS) and the Taliban continue to attack various targets in the country.

From January 1 to May 8, 2017, the Afghan National Army and other security forces suffered more than 2,530 fatalities and more than 4,200 people were injured, according to information from the US Special Inspector General for the Reconstruction of Afghanistan.
