Azerbaijan prevents another diversion by Armenian armed forces
One Azerbaijani serviceman was slightly wounded

An Armenian sabotage and reconnaissance group attempted to attack the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on the contact line in the direction of the Agdere-Terter area at night of March 5, the Azerbaijani defense ministry reported March 6.

“This attempt was prevented,” the ministry said.

While throwing weapons and suffering losses after a powerful strike, the Armenians were forced to retreat due to the vigilance of the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and proactive measures.

Azerbaijani serviceman, Sergeant Dayanet Zahidov was slightly wounded in the arm during the battle.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
