It seems House of Cards isn't dead over at Netflix just yet - according to CNN, showrunners Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese, who took over from Beau Willimon for season 5, are “racing against the clock” to rework the show's conclusion without Spacey.
Should the writing duo pull together a satisfactory new story arc - one that would undoubtedly focus on Underwood's wife, Claire (Robin Wright) - it will be down to Netflix and Media Rights Capital whether to proceed.
The decision is expected to be made within a fortnight as many crew members will have contractual obligations to work on other shows.
House of Cards season 5 ended with Claire - the First Lady - replacing her husband as President after a season of manipulation. Netflix is also prepping a series of spin-offs, one of which is expected to involve aide Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly).
In light of the allegations against Spacey, the actor has been cut from forthcoming Ridley Scott film All the Money in the World in which he played John Paul Getty III. He's been replaced by Christopher Plummer.
