Azerbaijani parliament Speaker hails TurkPA`s activity
“The Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking countries (TurkPA) is a strong platform that brings our countries closer to each other,” said Speaker of Azerbaijan`s parliament Ogtay Asadov as he addressed a meeting of the Council of TurkPA in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Asadov noted that TurkPA “continues to make great contributions to the development of friendly and brotherly relations between our peoples as well as development of the parliamentary traditions among our brotherly countries both in bilateral and multilateral formats”.

Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Speaker Asadov noted that international efforts to resolve the conflict have not still produced any results due to Armenia's non-constructive and destructive position.

Asadov thanked the leaders of Turkic-speaking countries for their support of Azerbaijan’s fair position on this conflict.

The parliamentary delegations of TurkPAs’ member states, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan as an observer country, Hungary as a guest country, as well as the Secretary General of the Turkic Council Ramil Hasanov and representatives of a number of international organizations attended the meeting.

The plenary session discussed a number of organizational issues, and heard reports by commissions.

The chairmanship in the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TURKPA) passed from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan.

The next meeting of the TurkPA will be held in Turkey in November, 2018.
