The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department said that all flights in the Atlanta airport in Georgia, US were canceled over power failure, prompting evacuation of passengers.
"All flights at @ATLairport have been cancelled. Airport officials working hard to get passengers off planes and out of the terminals. Power is reportedly back on in the "F" International Concourse," the Fire Department posted on Twitter.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) expects that the situation would be normalized within hours.
"#FAA will retain normal staffing in the Air Traffic Control Tower at @ATLairport throughout the night. Air traffic controllers will be ready to handle flights as soon as they resume," the FAA wrote on its Twitter page.
One of the world's busiest airports, the Hartsfield-Jackson international Airport, lost electricity on Sunday leaving some passengers trapped inside terminals and planes, according to media reports. The outage was reportedly caused by a fire that damaged underground electrical system.
