5 thousand Armenian citizens voluntarily relinquish their nationality
Recently, the number of people refusing their nationality in Armenia have increased sharply, News.am reports citing the press service of the Passport & Visa Office of Armenia.
In 2017, 3823 people applied for an application for refusal from Armenian citizenship. The Department of Citizenship received 968 applications on citizenship refusal in 2012, 1461 in 2013, 2407 in 2014, 2487 in 2015, 3863 in 2016, and 3823 in December 2017.

Since the Republican Party came to power in Armenia (2012-2017), 1500 people refused the citizenship. Armenian Police Department did not reveal the precise statistics about their sex and age average.

Former Chief of Police Alik Sargsyan considers that these figures are extremely significant and the government should perceive it.
