A huge explosion has ripped through a shop in Leicester sparking a "major incident" – with police and fire crew rushing to the scene, Daily Star reports.
Emergency crew have been scrambled to reports of a "huge explosion" at a polish shop in Hinckley Road at around 7.10pm tonight.
Dramatic footage and pictures shows raging flames tearing through the convenience store in the north of the East Midlands city.
Shocked eyewitnesses have described terrifying scenes of "carnage everywhere" after the explosion, which "rattled doors and windows". One wrote: "Jesus, huge explosion Hinckley road area about 10 minutes ago. Can see the flames and endless sirens going off"
Another added: "Explosion on or near HinckleyRoad in Leicester. Whole house shook, loud bang, lots of smoke. Avoid the area - lots of sirens and no doubt they’re closing it off"On Twitter Leicestershire police posted: "There has been a major incident on Hinckley Road, Leicester.
"All emergency services are currently dealing with this.
"Carlisle Street and part of Hinckley Road have been closed Please avoid the area."
