Cultural celebrations and festivals are common to people all over the world. These events celebrate different historical and cultural practices and share some important community functions. Often holidays like these bring together families and communities, and introduce new generations to traditional food, dance, music and handicrafts. Special celebrations are incorporated into K–12 curricula in order to introduce students to diverse peoples and cultures. In the increasingly globalized world, interacting with the beauty of cultural celebrations is a humanizing experience that encourages the appreciation of diversity. It is in this spirit that Celebrating Nowruz has been assembled.
