Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has received the all-national Ukrainian award, the Person of the Year, at a ceremony in the country’s capital Kiev.
The prestigious award is given to the Lithuanian leader on Saturday by the Ukrainian Higher Academic Council that consists of the representatives of the country’s society and experts in various spheres.

Grybauskaite, 59, is honoured for "asserting Ukraine’s interests at the highest international level, the active support of Ukraine’s European aspirations and the support of its territorial integrity."

Kiev also says that the Lithuanian leader’s personal contribution to promoting democratic principles in Ukraine deserves the highest assessment from the Ukrainian side.
The award was given to Grybauskaite at the XIX annual ceremony by Ukraine’s first president Leonid Kravchuk and TV presenter Natalya Moseychuk.
