Forty-one Turkish soldiers and 116 members of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) died in the military incursion into Syria’s Afrin, Turkish Defence Minister Nurettin Canikli said.

The figure compares with 2,295 fighters of Kurdish factions and Islamic State (ISIS) “neutralised” since hostilities began on Jan. 20, Canikli said , according to a report in Turkish by state-run Anatolia news agency.

Forty-four Turkish soldiers and 241 FSA fighters have been killed in clashes so far, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Thursday. Meanwhile 270 members of the Kurdish People’s Defence Units (YPG) and affiliated groups have died, it said.

“The struggle will continue until the last terrorist is incapacitated,” Canikli said.
