Poland heads the UN security Council

Starting Tuesday, May 1, the President of the UN Security Council became Poland and will hold this position throughout the month.

In accordance with the Charter of the UN security Council, the President changes monthly in alphabetical order.

Poland became a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in January 2018 and will be located in the security Council until 2020.

Earlier it was reported that the Western countries have found a mechanism to bypass a Russian veto in the UN security Council.

The allies drew attention to the resolution of 3 November 1950, in the name of “Unity for peace”, adopted during the Korean war. The resolution was adopted in case if the UN security Council cannot implement its authority in the security sphere due to disagreement of the permanent members.
