Russian Interior Ministry warns Armenian and Azerbaijani diaspora over upcoming Immortal Regiment march

A meeting with representatives of Azerbaijani and Armenian organizations was held at the Main Directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry in Moscow on May 8, Chairman of the Development and Renaissance Foundation of Azerbaijani Culture in Russia Shamil Tagiyev told AzVision.az.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the issue of observance of public order during the national Immortal Regiment march to be held in Moscow on May 9, said Tagiyev.

“Representatives of Armenian and Azerbaijani diaspora organizations were asked to avoid a possible provocation that could lead, as the previous year, to unrest. Representatives of the Russian Interior Ministry’s Main Directorate in Moscow said that participants are not allowed to bring to the Immortal Regiment march various flags, symbols and attributes unrelated to the Great Patriotic War. Only Russian flag, the symbol of victory and portraits of veterans of the Great Patriotic War are allowed,” he said.

Taghiyev called on members of the Azerbaijani diaspora to observe law and public order during the Immortal Regiment march.
