NATO values Azerbaijan`s support of Afghanistan peacekeeping efforts
Azerbaijan is the first non-NATO member which has confirmed its presence in Afghanistan after 2014.
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( NATO) highly values Azerbaijan`s support of the peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan, NATO coordinator in Azerbaijan Daniel Cristian Ciobanu said here Monday.

Addressing the summer session of NATO International School of Azerbaijan (NISA), Ciobanu, who is also Romanian ambassador, said visits of senior representatives from both sides have made an invaluable contribution to the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the alliance.

Azerbaijan is the first non-NATO member which has confirmed its presence in Afghanistan after 2014, Ciobanu said.

The summer session of NISA titled "Afghanistan beyond 2014" started in Baku on July 1 and will run till July 5. It has brought together over 40 students and scholars from Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Romania, Tajikistan and Ukraine.

NATO and Azerbaijan are actively cooperating on democratic, institutional and military reforms, as well as on the issues of conducting practical cooperation in various areas. The cooperation program between Azerbaijan and NATO is set out in the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) on Azerbaijan.

NISA is a Baku-based foundation that organizes professional training and public events in order to raise general awareness about Euro-Atlantic security issues and build capacity for peace and stability in the Caucasus.
