Since founding “Sjaella” in 2005, five Leipzig singers have been searching for new ways of musical self-expression. The name "Sjæl" or "Själ" is taken from Danish and Swedish, meaning "soul", "spirit". In 2013, they were awarded the prestigious award "Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik" for CD "Preisung". The band "Sjaella" actively tours in Germany and abroad and takes part in music festivals such as MDR Musiksommer, Meraner Musikwochen, Amman Jazz Festival. The collective has gained several times the prestigious places at international competitions on vocal music such as Tampereen Sävel Finnland, Jugend kulturell, Vokal. Total, Graz.
The collective "Sjaella" is also actively involved in humanitarian activities: since 2016 the girls have been appointed the ambassadors to the SOS organization. In 2017, they visited Israeli and Palestinian settlements with seminars and concerts, and two months later repeated their program with the support of the Goethe Institute in Amman (Jordan). In Azerbaijan, with the support of Goethe-Zentrum Baku, on June 5 at 19:30 the collective will give a free concert in the Chamber and Organ Music Hall (Kirche). Free admission.
