Erdogan: TANAP is a ‘strategic investment’ made in Turkey-Azerbaijan brotherhood

The Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) is a vitally important project for Azerbaijan, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

TANAP links Azerbaijan not only with Turkey, but also with Europe, Erdogan told at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on Tuesday,
AzVision.az reports.

Erdogan called TANAP a ‘strategic investment’ made in brotherhood of Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Erdogan went on to say that the investment Azerbaijan has made in Turkey’s Aliaga project is of great importance.

The president also underlined the importance of steps Turkey is taking with Azerbaijan in the field of energy and defense industry.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan and Turkey are one nation, two states.

Erdogan also hailed the development of trade relations between the two countries.

“If 15 years ago, Turkey needed someone to develop its defense industry, today it provides 65 percent of defense products itself. We share these opportunities with fraternal countries as well,” he added.

Erdogan arrived in Azerbaijan's capital Baku on Tuesday in his first official visit outside Turkey after his re-election.
