Abdurrezzak Muallim, a member of parliament, told Anadolu Agency: "92 members of parliament submitted a motion to the Somali Parliament Speaker Mohamed Mursal Sheikh requesting an impeachment of President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed."
The lawmakers accused the president of over-intervention in the management of the federal regions, denial of powers to local authorities, abuse of power and signing secret agreements with other countries.
According to the country’s constitution, 92 lawmakers had to sign a motion for it to be submitted to the speaker.
A successful impeachment requires a vote of the two-thirds of the 275-member parliament.
