"The Kanopus-V spacecraft separated from the Fregat upper stage," the announcer said in his broadcast from the launch site.
The Fregat will then deliver 25 foreign small spacecraft to the orbit.
The Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket was laucnhed from the Vostochny spaceport at 5:07am Moscow time. Nine minutes after the launch, the Fregat upper stage with spacecraft separated from the third stage of the carrier rocket.
