He did not specify the dates for the visit but called Azerbaijan an important strategic partner for Russia.
"Our relations are based on the principles of equitability and good-neighborliness, as well as on the age-old traditions of friendship and mutual respect," Karasin said. "Development of relations between our two countries objectively is working towards stability and security in South Caucasus and in the Caspian littoral area."
Karasin also recalled that the Russian officials were looking forward to a visit by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev, who is expected to attend festivities on the occasion of VE-Day in Moscow.
He also noted numerous contacts at level of the two countries’ parliaments, deputy prime ministers and heads of key governmental departments.
