Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway construction to end in 2014
The active phase of construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) is going on.
It was announced by Transport Minister of Azerbaijan Ziya Mammadov while addressing the Cabinet meeting on socio-economic development of the country in the first half of 2013 presided over by President Ilham Aliyev.

The BTK section that lies till the Turkish border will end later this year. At the same time, a 2-km area with 4.2-kilometer-long tunnel on the border with Turkey and Georgia has been dug and the work in this direction is continuing, the minister said.

"Despite the delay due to difficult terrain and adverse climatic conditions in the area of the Georgian-Turkish border, the construction of the BTK will end in 2014," Mammadov added.
