Baku 2015 through foreigner`s eyes
The first European Games will become a wonderful opportunity for Azerbaijan to demonstrate its organizational skills, Patrick Smith, an employee of the BP oil company from the UK told Trend in Baku.
“I think this is a wonderful opportunity for Azerbaijan to demonstrate its organisational skills, to display its legendary hospitality and in general show the world what it is capable of doing,” he said.
He went on to add that the European Games will also play their role in attracting tourists to the country.
Smith hopes that visitors to the Games will take time away from the events to immerse themselves in Azerbaijani culture, to visit the heritage sites and to escape from Baku to see some of the amazing scenery in the rest of the country.
When they return to their countries, the favorable reports that they give will help the development of tourism in Azerbaijan, he said.
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
