Central Bank of Azerbaijan destroys hundreds of millions of manat within a year

In 2018, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) destroyed banknotes and coins worth 1.33 billion manats unsuitable for use, AzVision.az reports on May 2 referring to the Bank’s financial report.

In comparison, in 2017, CBA destroyed banknotes and coins worth 1.3 billion manats in 2017.

According to the report, Azerbaijan received new banknotes and coins worth 6.42 billion manats in 2018, which is 15.6 times more than in 2017 (410 million manats).

As of January 1, 2019, banknotes and coins worth 8.36 billion manats were in circulation in Azerbaijan. Over the past year, this figure increased by 223.9 million manats.
