Azerbaijan starts exporting electricity to Europe - VIDEO

Azerbaijan's Azerenergy OJSC has started exporting electricity to Greece, Romania and Hungary, the company told AzVision.az.

According to the company, Azerbaijan has turned from an importer of electricity into a country exporting electricity, and it has been exporting electricity to Russia, Georgia, Iran and Turkey for a long time.

From May 1 on, Azerenerji OSJC began to export electricity to Greece through Georgia and Turkey, as well as to Romania and Hungary through Georgia, Turkey and Bulgaria.

The company achieved success at auctions held in Greece and Bulgaria in May. Azerenerji OJSC also plans to export electricity to Austria and Italy in the coming months.

Azerenerji OSJC continues necessary activities to increase its export opportunities, ensure the safety of the energy system, as well as to look for new generating forces in accordance with the Rehabilitation Program.
