  Political consultations held between Germany and Azerbaijan

The next round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany was held in Baku. The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov and delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany headed by the authorized representative of the Foreign Ministry for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia Michael Siebert, AzVision.az reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

During the consultations, the sides discussed the current state of relations between the two countries and exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation. The parties expressed their satisfaction with the high level of political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Germany. Michael Siebert said that the German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel's recent visit to Azerbaijan especially has great importance. 

The parties praised bilateral economic cooperation, as well as, the activities of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Azerbaijan.

The sides discussed relations in the fields of culture, science and education and the activities of the DAAD and Goethe Center in Baku. The opening of the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Berlin will promote bilateral humanitarian ties.

The sides exchanged views on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Khalafov highly appreciated Germany's support for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty and thanked for the support and efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group.

In addition, the sides exchanged views on reforms in political, legal and economic spheres in Azerbaijan, as well as other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
